Meet Dr. Cho

BLENDING ARTISTRY AND SCIENCE FROM THE BEGINNING

EARLY YEARS

As a resilient immigrant from Korea, Dr. Cho embarked on her journey to the United States at the tender age of 4. This early experience instilled in her the values of adversity, hard work, and unwavering perseverance – qualities that have been integral to shaping her into the accomplished and compassionate surgeon she stands as today.

Growing up under the guidance of her father, a classically trained pianist, Dr. Cho was encouraged to explore her artistic inclinations. Eschewing formal piano lessons, her father believed that the mastery of an instrument would nurture her artistic expression. She embraced this philosophy and channeled her talents into mastering the violin, earning a prestigious position as first chair in the renowned all-city Philadelphia orchestra. This dedication to artistry ran parallel to her burgeoning interest in science, and she found herself irresistibly drawn to the intricate world of anatomy, captivated by its profound form and function.

Education

Dr. Cho's academic pursuits led her to Ursinus College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Seeking further enrichment, she embarked on a year of graduate studies at Harvard Extension School. Prior to achieving her medical degree from PCOM, she enriched her scientific background by contributing to drug development as a cell biologist, showcasing her multidisciplinary dedication.

A shining exemplar of her potential, Dr. Cho was bestowed with the distinguished Galen Young award at her medical school graduation, a testament to her exceptional promise in the realm of surgery. This recognition merely foreshadowed her exceptional achievements. Thriving under the rigors of a challenging five-year general surgery residency, she not only emerged as Intern of the Year but also assumed the role of Chief Resident. In addition, she spent two years devoted to a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship. Her unwavering commitment and unyielding drive have culminated in her achieving the distinction of double board certification.
